The Latin American Association for Social Studies of Science and Technology (ESOCITE), the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), and ESOCITE-BR convoke all researchers related studies social Science, Technology and Innovation to participate in the XI DAYS oF LATIN AMERICAN STUDIES sOCIAL SCIENCE aND TECHNOLOGY, ESOCITE 2016: ESOCITE 21 Years: Trajectories plurals between past and future.

The Latin American Conference on Social Studies of Science and Technology (ESOCITE) will be celebrated in Brazil in the city of Curitiba, between 25 and 28 July 2016. This issue is of special importance because in addition to celebrate symbolically the age of social studies of science and technology in Latin America, will be the first event in which the ESOCITE will present legally formalized.

Although this is a minor factor before the reality of concrete articulation through networks, research groups, graduate programs and publications, which occurred over the years, it is significant to point out the new levels of institutionalization in the present and indicate potential future development.

This time of institutional formalization encourages us to reflect on the many research groups from several decades ago, developed the thought of Science, Technology and Society (STS) in the region, calls us to examine the proliferation of perspectives and approaches in this and challenges us to think about the different CTS field of possible configurations in the future.

To discuss these and other issues, ESOCITE 21 Years: Trajectories plurals between past and future , inaugural conference will be held, round tables, symposiums organized in themes and thematic sessions.

ET2 – current and counter-hegemonic practices in the production of S & T

ET3 – scientific controversies, public participation and political decision-making in ST & I.

ET5 – Science and Technology: gender, ethnic and race relations, culture and identities.

ET 6 – Technology and Innovation: applications, risks and social problems

ET7 – ST & I policies and local and regional development

ET8 – Production techno-scientific and social issues

ET9 – dynamics of institutions and scientific fields

ET10 – International Dimensions of CT & I

ET11 – Perception and public communication of S & T

ET Free – receive jobs that do not fit in previous issues to build new thematic groups
